Library Website

The Library adheres to the principles outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which mandates that all federal agencies, including educational institutions, make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities.

The Library adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, at a minimum, as our standard for website accessibility. The library website is designed and maintained to meet the criteria outlined in the WCAG, ensuring that content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.

Staff members involved in content creation, website development, and maintenance receive training on accessibility best practices. We monitor, evaluate, and address accessibility issues on an ongoing basis.

Feedback from users with disabilities is actively sought and used to guide enhancements to our website. Please submit feedback via our Contact Us page.

E-Resources

Electronic resources encompass a wide range of third-party-produced materials, including but not limited to databases, e-books, online journals, and multimedia content. Before entering into agreements with content vendors, we work with the university’s Information Resources & Technology department to evaluate the accessibility features of electronic resources and ensure that they comply with Section 508 standards. As part of the procurement process, all vendors are required to submit a Vendor Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). When a resource fails to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements, we create an Equally Effective Alternate Access Plan (EEAAP), which outlines how individuals with disabilities can access the materials at a level comparable to the access available to others until accessibility conformance can be met.

We offer assistance with navigating electronic resources and accessing alternative formats to persons with disabilities. Accommodation requests may be initiated through the Disability Access Center. Comments or questions about accessibility of online e-resources can be submitted via our Contact Us page.

Physical Collections and Spaces

As with our online collections, the Library is committed to providing all patrons full access to our physical collections and spaces.

Restrooms

Restrooms with automated touch doors are located on the 1st floor north wing, across from the elevators.

  • The indoor bookdrop is at the north end of the Library Service Desk (to the left when facing the desk) on the First Floor.
  • When the library is closed, there is an after-hours bookdrop located to the right of the library entrance.
  • In addition, a 24-hour bookdrop is located on Bay Laurel Way (across from Sacramento Hall).
  • All course reserve items must be returned directly to the Library Service Desk.

Print/Copy/Scan

  • Printers are located on floors 1, 2, and 3 of the Library. To accommodate wheelchair users, the printer and OneCard units are located at a reachable level.
  • Users with disabilities may request copy/print assistance at the Library Service Desk, service traffic permitting. Please contact them to inquire about services offered.
